Friday 5/31- Friday 6/7

We are almost to the last week of school!

Students are working on their biographies and they should be completed by Monday. If students have a draft and are working on their book, they will have time to complete the book next week in class.
We will begin to share them on Tuesday.

No homework this week.

Enjoy your weekend and Shabbat Shalom!

Calendar:
Friday, June 7 = last day of school & a 12:00 dismissal. It is also a dress down day.

Friday, May 24- Friday, May 31

Friday, May 24 is Field Day.  It is a 2:00 dismissal.
I cannot emphasize enough how stressed out your children become when it's a different dismissal time and they aren't clear that you know this and are prepared for it. Please make sure they are aware of how they are getting home at 2:00 on Friday. Thank you so very much in advance!

Field Day:
It's a dress down day. Students are encouraged to get into the color war spirit by wearing their team color, but no face, body or hair paint/colors. Students who come with this will be asked to remove it before participating. Please be aware of the weather & be sure your child has a water bottle, sunscreen, any medication he/she needs (epipen/inhaler), if not already in nurse's office and a change of clothes/shoes/socks  (this latter is only in the event that it ever actually storms like they keep threatening and the ground is wet/muddy).

Homework & Homework Folders:
I am going to send one last math page home TOMORROW. Yes, it's a Thursday, and I know that's not the usual folder day, but since Friday is Field Day...let's go with it. The math homework is a "maze" to get through by identifying the square products (the answer when you multiply a number by itself-- examples: 3x3=9, 8x8=64, see the pattern?) This will be our last homework assignment of the year.

Check out the newsletter & photos of your children making emotion masks at the museum this past Tuesday!

Next Week:
No school on Monday, Memorial Day
Spring Show starts 9:30 in the shul on Thursday morning

As always, contact me with any questions, comments or concerns!

Enjoy your Memorial Day holiday weekend!

Friday 5/10 - Friday 5/17

HOMEWORK:
No homework this week (yaaaay!) - but keep practicing the word roots that you've made as flashcards at home!

FIELD TRIP:
2nd & 3rd graders are going on a field trip to the Columbus Museum of Art to experience the Rothko exhibit. This will take place on Tuesday May, 21. A permission slip is in your child's folder and is due NO LATER than 5/20.

BIOGRAPHIES:
We are writing biographies in Language Arts. Each student has selected a person of interest and I have gone to the library to obtain books for use in class. Ask your child who he/she is researching and if you have materials at home, your child is welcome to use them at school! We will create a biography book and share these the last week of school.

GENERAL:
I encourage you to play math games, have your child calculate change or tell you the fraction of dishes that are cleared from the table vs. those left... real world math applications like that. Also, keep reading! The more your child reads, the better he or she will be at vocabulary and writing.
