Wednesday, November 28

Hello!
Hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving break!

Just a reminder: I did not send homework home over the Thanksgiving break so that families could relax and enjoy a little respite. This means we do not have a spelling test this upcoming Friday.

Please send the purple H&I folders back to school tomorrow (Thursday) and I will have assignments ready to send home on Friday, 11/30.

Friday, 11/16 - Wednesday, 11/21

It was great to see you all at conferences. Thanks so much for coming in and sharing your thoughts and ideas. I am excited for the rest of our third grade year together!

I am not sending home homework this week due to the upcoming Thanksgiving break. I encourage your child to take this time to READ, READ, READ, READ, READ!  and complete his/her reading log.

Our Thanksgiving performance is at 9:30AM on Wednesday 11/21. Please have your child wear his/her CTA shirt. We are performing There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves about an old lady who swallows leaves, a shirt, a pole, a rope--- and we don't know why she swallows these things until the end.

Friday 11/2- Friday 11/9

Report cards will be coming home. I want to remind you that students do not receive letter grades this year. Students are either M (emerging requiring a lot of assistance), T (transitioning with some assistance), A (achieving without help) or E (extending beyond year expectations). Please note that I have been rather conservative and most students will have Ms or Ts on the report cards. This is because we have finished the first quarter. Most students require help and assistance with concepts. Also, many of the lessons we have covered thus far have either  been review or introduced, but not fully explored.

Reading/Language Studies:
We had our first student who completed his reading log. Congratulations Samson! After completing the reading log, a student may earn an automatic privilege or a prize from the prize box.

This week we are all going to review the months of the year in spelling.
for next Friday: October, November, December, January, February March

Idiom: In a nutshell: clearly and to the point; very brief.

Math:
You will find the parent letter for this next unit in this week's H&I folder.
Students are reviewing fact families, so there is a home link

Social Studies:
We are switching from science to social studies. We will discuss the election process & our government.
