Grandparent's & Special Person's Day!
Our annual get together is next Friday, February 7. The program begins at 12:30 in the shul and then students will break up and return to their classrooms. There is an approximate 20 minute time set for each the G.S. & Hebrew classroom.

Adults are welcome to sign out their child at the end of the program.

Science TEST- Friday 1/31
a yellow vocabulary sheet went home today. We have been studying this topic for several weeks and will be reviewing in class before our test on Friday. 

Rocks & Minerals Review

mineral:    never been alive
                  made (formed)  in nature
                  a solid

rocks:        made of 1 or more minerals
                  made (formed) in nature
                  a solid

Mohs Scale:  used to measure the HARDNESS of a mineral – using STREAK
                           talc is a 1 – the softest
                           diamond is a 10- the hardest

3 types of rock:         igneous – rock once melted & then hardened
                           sedimentary        - rock that has settled into layers
                           metamorphic – rock that was changed by heat and pressure

rock cycle:         the process of rocks changing from one kind to another over time

weathering:       the process of rocks breaking down (it happens SLOWLY)

erosion:    process of moving broken rocks
                  -creep is a slow type of erosion
                           WATER & WIND cause erosion

glacier:      moving ice that move dirt & scrape the surface of the Earth.
